Why AC decides where you train in Da Nang
Da Nang's climate is the single most underrated variable in choosing a gym here. Average July and August highs sit around 33 to 34.5°C, relative humidity runs between roughly 79% and 89% year round, and the hot season regularly pushes past 37°C. June alone averages about 11 hours of sunshine a day.
Those two numbers together, heat plus humidity, are what actually matter. Sweat cools you by evaporating. At 85% humidity it barely evaporates, so your body loses its main cooling mechanism exactly when you are asking most of it. That is why a 33°C gym in Da Nang feels dramatically worse than a 33°C gym in a dry climate, and why a strong set of squats in an un-airconditioned room here can leave you genuinely unwell rather than just tired.
The practical effects show up fast:
- Your session gets shorter. Rest periods stretch out, working sets drop off, and 75-minute sessions quietly become 45.
- Heavy lower body work suffers first. Squats, deadlifts and carries generate the most heat and are the first things people start skipping.
- Grip fails before the muscle does. Sweat-slick bars and handles end sets early, which is a real problem on pulling movements.
- Consistency collapses. This is the one that actually costs you results. People do not quit hot gyms dramatically, they just start finding reasons not to go in July.
What "air-conditioned" actually means in Da Nang
Here is the problem with every other list you will read. "Air-conditioned" is used as a yes or no checkbox, and in Da Nang it is nothing of the sort. There are at least four different things that phrase can mean:
1. Fully conditioned floor
The whole training space, including the free weight area, is cooled and holds temperature when the gym is full. This is the rarest and most expensive category, because cooling a space with open shutters, heavy foot traffic and dozens of people generating heat requires a system sized well beyond a few wall units.
2. Partial or zoned cooling
Reception, cardio and the studio are cooled. The squat racks and free weights, usually at the back or on a mezzanine, are not. This is extremely common and it is the single thing most worth checking, because if you lift, the uncooled zone is the only zone you actually care about.
3. Token units in a large space
Two or three wall-mounted split units in a room they cannot possibly cool. Technically air-conditioned. Functionally a fan with extra steps, especially after 5 PM when the room fills up.
4. AC that exists but is not run
Units are installed and switched off outside peak hours to save on electricity, or switched off entirely on quieter days. You visit at 10 AM, it is cool, you buy three months, and you discover in week two what 6 PM feels like.
The two things that actually decide it
Underneath those four categories sit two variables, and neither is visible from a listing.
The first is the size of the units. Domestic split units, the kind you would put in an apartment bedroom, are common in gyms here because they are cheap to buy and cheap to install. In a bedroom they work. In a room with dozens of people generating heat, open doors, and equipment absorbing and radiating warmth all day, they cannot hold temperature no matter how many you bolt to the wall. Industrial or commercial-grade systems are a different class of machine, and they cost enough that most gyms do not fit them.
The second is whether the system is actually running. Cooling a training floor in Da Nang is a real electricity bill, which is why leaving it off until a member asks is common practice here. That is why a gym can be genuinely air-conditioned and still be hot when you turn up. The equipment exists. It is simply switched off.
If you only remember one thing from this page, make it this: "has air conditioning" and "is cold when you train" are different claims, and only the second one matters.
Air-conditioned gyms in Da Nang, compared
The table below covers the gyms most often named in Da Nang gym guides, sorted by how well established their air conditioning is. We have graded AC status honestly rather than marking everything "yes":
- Verified means the gym states it directly and independent guides agree.
- Reported means published guides list AC but we have not confirmed it covers the whole floor.
- Disputed means published sources contradict each other.
- Fan-cooled means sources agree there is no meaningful AC.

Prices and hours as published by the gyms and by Da Nang gym guides, checked 11 August 2026. Vietnamese gym pricing changes often and foreigner rates sometimes differ from local rates, so confirm directly before paying. Where sources disagreed we have marked the entry disputed rather than picking the flattering answer.
The pattern most people miss: opening hours
Look down the hours column again. The majority of Da Nang gyms, including most of the affordable ones, close between 8 PM and 9 PM. A handful close at 8:30 PM on the dot.
That matters more than it sounds, for two reasons. First, if you work a normal day or run your own business, a gym that closes at 8:30 PM gives you a narrow and crowded window. Second, and specific to this city, the late evening is when Da Nang is coolest. The gyms that close early are the ones forcing you to train in the hottest part of the day, which compounds the AC problem rather than solving it.
Only a few options genuinely solve the late training problem: Mobifit360 is open 24/7, Vinabeast and Evolve both run until midnight, and The New Gym in Hải Châu is open 24 hours. If you train after 9 PM, that list is essentially your whole market.
Where Evolve fits, honestly
We run Evolve, so treat this section with the scepticism it deserves and check the table above against other sources. Here is the straight version.
Evolve is at 14 Hồ Xuân Hương, Khuê Mỹ, Ngũ Hành Sơn, a few minutes from My Khe Beach and walkable from much of the An Thượng area. It opened in 2026, which is the main reason the air conditioning and the equipment are in the condition they are in. It is open daily from 8 AM to midnight. First-time visitors get a free day pass, after which a day pass is 150,000₫, a week is 490,000₫, and memberships run 1,990,000₫ for one month, 1,490,000₫ per month on three months, and 990,000₫ per month on twelve.
Since this page spends most of its length arguing that "air-conditioned" is a meaningless claim without specifics, here are ours, on the record. Evolve runs industrial air conditioning, not domestic split units, and it runs from open to close, 8 AM to midnight, every day. Nobody has to ask at the desk for it to be switched on. Those are the two variables described above, answered plainly, and you are welcome to hold us to both on a free first-visit day pass at 6 PM in August.
Choose Evolve if
- You lift seriously and want the free weight floor itself cooled, not just reception.
- You have been burned by a gym that switches the cooling off outside peak hours. Ours does not go off during opening hours.
- You train late. The 8 AM to midnight window covers evening sessions comfortably.
- You are based around My Khe, Khuê Mỹ or An Thượng and do not want a cross-city commute.
- You want newer equipment and are willing to pay above neighbourhood-gym rates for it.
- You want to try before committing. The day pass exists for exactly this.
Choose something else if
- You need 24-hour access. We close at midnight. Mobifit360, a few doors down the same street, does not. If 3 AM training is non-negotiable, go there.
- You want a pool, sauna and full spa. Elite Fitness is built for that and we are not.
- You are optimising for lowest cost. Fan-cooled neighbourhood gyms start around 220,000₫ a month. Nothing air-conditioned in this city competes with that, us included.
- You want classes and yoga programming. The big chains and the fitness-and-yoga formats do more of it.
- You want a rooftop. Vinabeast is the only one in the country doing it.
How to test a gym's AC before you pay for a membership
A month at an air-conditioned gym in Da Nang costs roughly four to nine times what a fan-cooled one does. That is worth ten minutes of due diligence. The method:
- Visit between 4 PM and 7 PM, in summer if you can. Hottest ambient temperature, fullest floor, most heat generated inside. Any system that holds up then will hold up whenever you train. A 10 AM visit on a quiet Tuesday tells you almost nothing.
- Walk to the free weights before you sign anything. Stand at the squat racks, not at reception. If there is a noticeable temperature drop between the two, you have found zoned cooling and you now know what you are actually buying.
- Do one real working set. Not a walk-through. Do a set of ten on something demanding and see how fast you recover. If you are still dripping four minutes later, the room is not clearing heat.
- Check the bars and handles. Rust on knurling and tacky grips are a reliable sign of a room that runs humid, whatever the thermostat says.
- Ask whether the AC runs all opening hours. Ask it plainly. Some gyms run cooling only at peak, which is precisely when it is least effective anyway.
- Buy a day pass first, always. At 30,000₫ to 200,000₫ it is the cheapest insurance available against a bad annual membership.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best gym with AC in Da Nang?
Evolve Gym, Mobifit360, Vinabeast Rooftop Gym and Elite Fitness are the gyms most consistently described as properly air-conditioned. Evolve at 14 Hồ Xuân Hương is the newest of them, opened in 2026, open daily 8 AM to midnight, with a 150,000₫ day pass. Mobifit360 on the same street runs 24/7. Elite Fitness adds a pool and sauna but sits in the city rather than the beach districts.
Do most gyms in Da Nang have air conditioning?
No. Most budget and neighbourhood gyms in Da Nang run on industrial fans and open shutters. Published guides list a majority of Da Nang gyms as either fan-cooled or unverified for AC, which is why it is worth confirming in person before buying a membership rather than trusting a listing.
How much does an air-conditioned gym cost in Da Nang?
Expect roughly 1,000,000₫ to 2,100,000₫ per month for an air-conditioned gym, against roughly 220,000₫ to 600,000₫ for fan-cooled neighbourhood gyms. Day passes at air-conditioned gyms usually run 100,000₫ to 200,000₫. Evolve charges 150,000₫ for a day pass and 1,990,000₫ for one month, dropping to 990,000₫ per month on a 12-month term.
Why do Da Nang gyms feel hot even when they say they have air conditioning?
Usually one of two reasons. The first is unit size: many gyms fit domestic split units, the kind used in apartments, which cannot hold temperature in a large room full of people generating heat. The second is that the system is switched off. Cooling a training floor is a significant electricity cost, so leaving the air conditioning off until a member asks for it is common practice in Da Nang. A gym can be genuinely air-conditioned on paper and still be hot when you arrive. Evolve at 14 Hồ Xuân Hương runs industrial air conditioning rather than domestic split units, and runs it from 8 AM to midnight without members having to ask.
How do I check whether a Da Nang gym's air conditioning actually works?
Buy a day pass and train between 4 PM and 7 PM in summer, the hottest and busiest window. If the floor stays cool with the gym full, the system is genuinely sized for the space. Check the free weight area specifically, since cooling reception and cardio while leaving the racks uncooled is the most common shortcut.
Which gyms near My Khe Beach and An Thuong have AC?
Evolve Gym and Mobifit360 both sit on Hồ Xuân Hương in Khuê Mỹ, a short ride from My Khe Beach and walkable from parts of An Thượng. Both are air-conditioned. Vinabeast Rooftop Gym in Phước Mỹ is also air-conditioned but is further north in Sơn Trà. Several other An Thượng gyms are fan-cooled only.
Is air conditioning worth paying extra for in Da Nang?
If you train through the hot season, yes, and the reason is consistency rather than comfort. The difference between a cooled and uncooled gym is not one unpleasant session, it is whether you keep showing up in June, July and August. If you are only in Da Nang during the cooler months from roughly December to February, the gap matters far less and a fan-cooled gym at a quarter of the price is a reasonable call.
Test our AC before you commit
Come at 6 PM on the hottest day you can find. Walk to the free weights. That is the only review that counts.
